Check UGC NET Syllabus 2020 Exam Scheme, Eligibility & Qualifying Criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & NET (Assistant Professor). UGC NET June 2020 to be held between 15-20 June, 2020. Since December 2014, CBSE had conducted UGC-NET exam for UGC. Now, NTA has been conducting UGC NET exam since DEC 2018. Candidates who are appearing in UGC-NET 2020 exam are advised to must know about Syllabus, Revised Exam Pattern, Eligibility Conditions & Criteria, Qualifying Criteria and Nature of UGC-NET Exam. This will help them a lot in preparation of the exam.

Paper I will be of general nature. Candidate would be required to attempt 50 questions all are compulsory.

Paper II will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. All questions are compulsory.


Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2020


Candidates who want to participate in National Eligibility Test (NET) to be conducted by NTA for UGC, must fulfill conditions of eligibility given below :

55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC.

50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination for OBC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST & PWD candidates and for Ph.D. Degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result).

Appearing candidates in qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination & whose result is still awaited. Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

Procedure & Criteria for Declaration of Result of UGC-NET 2020


This will comprise of following steps:

Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in NET for considering a candidate for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor:
The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below:


CATEGORY
Minimum Marks (%) to be obtained
PAPER – I
PAPER – II

GENERAL
40% aggregate marks in all the two papers taken together
OBC (Non-creamy layer)/ PWD/ SC/ ST
35% aggregate marks in all the two papers taken together

Step II: Amongst those candidates who have appeared in all three papers and cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.

Step III: The number of slots for eligibility for Assistant Professor will be equal to the 6% of the candidates appeared in all two papers of NET. The subject-wise and category-wise distribution of slots will be calculated by using the similar formula as used for calculation slots of JRF as mentioned in the detailed notification.

Step IV: A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III.

It might be noted that the above qualifying criteria may be decided by UGC & it will be final and binding.

  3. While applying "The year of passing" cannot be changed from 2015 to 2016, actually I am final year M.Tech student. What should I do?

    1. You can't change the particulars after the payment of fee. Have you paid the fee challan?
      If you have paid the fee, there is no way to edit the same application.
      You can also try a new application form with correct details.

    i have scored 52 (paper 1),42(paper 2),60 (paper 3) in cbse ugc net 2015 december in environmental science. I Belongs to OBC catgory. Am i qualified for assistant professor of JRF.
